Three

Ecc. 4:12 "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh...the three gifts given to Jesus at His birth.
Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli bound together in a mission to protect Frodo and defend Middle Earth...
...Gimli: Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with an Elf.

Legolas: What about side by side with a friend?

Gimli: Aye. I could do that.

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger...
...Harry: I've been thinking about something Dumbledore said to me...That even though we've got a fight ahead of us...we've got one thing that Voldemort doesn't have...Something worth fighting for.
Peter, James, and John - disciples of Jesus.
Jesus has these three in intimate and significant settings throughout his ministry.
A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob...patriarchs and the beginning of Jesus' line.
When studying the Lineage of Jesus, you see the men and women God chooses are men and women just like us...sinners in need of a Savior. God sets them apart and uses them to bring about His Son...Jesus Christ, born in a manager and died on a cross. Sarah, Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bethsehba, and Mary.
