A New Friend

The new Chick-fil-A on Bass Road gives out balloons and Maggie loves balloons now.
When we got home, she ran around the backyard with it.
It then came inside with us. I realized she likes having a balloon because Christopher Robin has one in the new Pooh movie.
It was really cute to watch her walk around with it all day.
Well, we got another one today:)
 Another day of "friend" balloon.
 We love our little Mags!

New Post

Not too much has been going on these past weeks. We are thankful to be at home a little more over the weekends. I am cleaning and organizing. In doing so, I found some old t-shirts I am passing along to Maggie...
Above is from my Freshman year at Samford - "Rhythm of the Night", Step Sing 2005. Below is from a mission's trip to St. Louis - Ted Drewes Frozen Custard.
Maggie is talking up a storm. Her favorite story to tell - "Mia, Papa, MaeMae [explaining that they went to a... ] BIG moomie [more explanation with unintelligible words] Belle was [she uses lots of hand motions to continue to tell about the movie] Beast."
She also likes to sit up and talk late into the night. We put her to bed about 8 pm. We will hear her talking, sometimes, until we fall asleep (between 11 and midnight). She is sweet and kind to all of the animals that sleep in bed with her (Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, monkey, Chick-fil-A Cow, orange Teddy, big Teddy Bead, and baby).

Sallie and Caleb's dog, Jackson, is Maggie's new best friend.
She had the best time with him last night.

It's so sweet...she always asks me if we are going to see Caleb and Sallie.
Mags called Jackson Pippi Longstockings because of his ears:)

Maggie loves her 100-Acre Wood Friends.

Today she put Tigger in a diaper...

...clipped his nails and then but a red bow in his hair.

Windy Wednesday

Today is a rather windy day here, but we decided to get some fresh air anyway.
Maggie is a pretty easy kid, but she is very sensitive to discipline. I don't know if she is embarrassed she messed up or upset for getting in trouble.
She doesn't like the word "no" and will just start crying sometimes and want to be held.
Discipline is another parental responsibility Jack and I are having to learn. Thanks to Tedd Tripp for his book on Shepherding a Child's Heart.
Proverbs 22:6 - "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." God, give me the grace and wisdom to train and discipline Maggie. Allow our home to be a home where the Gospel lives at the center.

A Couple of New Things

First, Maggie has memorized a Bible verse! Here she is reciting it...
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me."
Psalm 10:14

Secondly, she is sleeping in her big girl bed for the first time tonight! It is a little like the first time we put her in the crib; we just have to let her cry it out:( It's more emotional then I thought it would be.
She has a few friends with her on the first night...Pooh, Tigger, Elephant, and Teddy.
I thank to Lord for giving us this ray of sunshine. I am starting to realize how quickly she will grow up and be on her own! I love you, Mags. I love when you ask me to say "prayers" with you at night. I love when you ask me to sing dada's song. I love when you want me to read the Bible to you; and, currently, when you ask to hear the story about Ruth. I love how tightly you hold me when you're scared or just want a hug. I love that you are a special reminder of God's grace and mercy.

New Year's Eve

Last night we celebrated the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012...
...after dinner at the Rookery...
...only the brave stuck it out until midnight...
...including Maggie!
